These are not hypothetical. These are mistakes I have personally seen cause visa delays, missed flights, and in a few cases students missing their university enrollment entirely. If you are at the JW202 stage you are close to China — do not let one of these stop you at the last hurdle.

Passport number on JW202 does not match passport

This is the most common error. When your university submitted your data to the Ministry of Education system, they may have typed your passport number incorrectly — one digit wrong, a letter O instead of a zero. The Chinese embassy will reject your visa application if the JW202 passport number does not exactly match your physical passport. Check this immediately when you download your form.
